The Office of Public Affairs—
(a)
Develops policies, programs, and procedures for the Chairman's approval for informing the public of NRC activities;
(b)
Prepares, clears, and disseminates information to the public and the news media concerning NRC policies, programs, and activities;
(c)
Keeps NRC management informed on media coverage of activities of interest to the agency;
(d)
Plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of public information staffs located at Regional Offices;
(e)
Conducts a cooperative program with schools; and
(f)
Carries out assigned activities in the area of consumer affairs.
